Pete Pinney asked: Why name this blog Edify?

I took the name from the Latin, "to build up, establish, or strengthen a person, institution, etc.; to uplift; to inform or enlighten intellectually or spiritually......

One of the methods of teaching I am most intriqued by is characterized by "active" learning where students are doing learning rather than receiving learning. By this model, the instruction is focused on "building up" the learning.... thus, edify.
